The Rise of Renegades
Published: November 5, 2025

The city had barely stirred from its slumber, but 38 riders were already gathered at the assembly point by 3:45 AM – engines purring softly, headlights slicing through the darkness.

It was November 2nd, 2025 — the 2nd Anniversary of Chennai Renegades, a celebration not just of miles covered, but of the bond that made every mile meaningful.

Amid the bustle, someone mentioned the five who started it all.

Five — a number that has always carried meaning in our land.

Five elements that shape the universe.

Five senses that help us feel it.
Five Pandavas who stood for righteousness.

Each different in nature, yet inseparable in purpose.

Chennai Renegades, too, began with five, each different, each essential.

And just like that, the memories came rushing back…

Flashback: October 2023 — The Storm Before

The storm was brewing toward the end of October 2023.

The hornet’s nest had been stirred — messages flew, words clashed, and tempers rose.

What began as differences soon turned into divisions; direct and indirect accusations filled the air.

Deep down, we knew — the end was coming; and perhaps, inevitable.

But endings often carry the seed of new beginnings.

A quick call brought a few of us together — not to dwell on what went wrong, but to decide what should come next.

Should the new beginning follow the predictable path?

The answer was clear and unanimous: No.

We would build something different — a platform where people could experience the joy of riding with safety, discipline, and responsibility.

The kind of experience we once cherished and believed in.

With that conviction, on 2nd November 2023, Chennai Renegades was born — not out of rebellion, but out of resolve.

A brotherhood forged from lessons of the past, fuelled by passion for the open road, and guided by the spirit of the five — the elements that balance, the fingers that form a fist.

The Ride

This year’s ride was meant to be short and sweet — start from Poonamallee, ride together to Amaravati Family Restaurant, Chilakur (Andhra Pradesh), celebrate the occasion with breakfast and cake, and return before the sun reached its peak.

Amaravati wasn’t new to us; it had served as our pit stop during the Odisha endurance ride earlier this year. Familiar place, familiar faces — but a whole new reason to celebrate.

The ride began smoothly, with Groups 1 and 2 taking the early lead, followed by Groups 3 and 4. The first hour was effortless — engines humming, formation steady, and the highway unfolding under the soft morning light. However, soon after, word came in that Group 3 missed the route and headed the wrong way. Thanks to quick intervention and coordination, the group was guided back with only a slight delay.

After a refreshing coffee break, we were nearing our destination when a puncture issue struck one of the bikes. A quick inspection revealed that the inflator couldn’t help this time, so the bike was parked safely at a nearby shop to be attended to after the celebrations.

We reached the restaurant earlier than planned. While breakfast was being prepared, an impromptu session unfolded — riders sharing memories, a quick recap of Chennai Renegades’ journey, and introductions of the new members joining their first official ride. The air was filled with laughter and nostalgia.

Breakfast was soon served, followed by the anniversary cake, lovingly coordinated by Mohan. It wasn’t just a meal; it was a moment — a reminder of how far the Renegades had come since that fateful morning two years ago.

The return journey, as always, tested our endurance. The rising heat, group mix-ups, and scattered formations made it a little chaotic — not quite our usual standard. But, as always, teamwork prevailed. The punctured bike was fixed, groups reassembled, and every rider reached home safely — tired, tanned, but deeply content.

Because in the end, what mattered wasn’t the distance or the detours — it was celebrating the spirit of brotherhood that keeps Chennai Renegades rolling strong.

The Spirit That Stands Tall

As we continue our journey in harmony, our rides carry something beyond excitement — they carry meaning.

In our spirit live the five elements —
the firmness of Earth that keeps our wheels steady,
the Water that flows through every challenge,
the Fire that fuels our passion,
the Air that carries our freedom,
and the Space that holds us all as one brotherhood.

Each throttle twist is a whisper of gratitude —
for the past that shaped us,
the present that rides with us,
and the future that waits beyond the horizon.

Because Chennai Renegades was never just about rides or routes - it was about rediscovering what brotherhood truly means.

Ride With Pride!
